My Art piece is a coil clay art that I was at first going to make into a jar but I couldn't get the clay to stay up right and it would also not stay in the mold that I wanted it to be. So I decided to make it into a cave like piece similar to Carlsbad with the underground rocks. After all of the clay was in place I smoothed it down and put little rock like clay and larger coils inside to make them appear like larger rock inside the cavern. With it finished I liked how it look and how I think it will turned out.
I call my piece The Cave because it is a cave but when you look into it you can see all the rocks and the rocks that are growing. I think of it like this because when I was at Carlsbad I saw all the different shape and sizes of the rocks, so I tried to put that into the art piece and then make it ingot the cave that it is right now. The end result isn't exactly what I was expecting because when I first was making the piece I thought of a jar with a hole in the middle looking into the jar, but the clay wouldn't hold the shape so I decided that a cave with the top low and an opening would be better and it would also show what I was more about in art.
With my piece I am satisfied with the result and i'm happy with how it might look once I glaze it with many types of colors, but the work put into it was a lot and I wouldn't change how it looks at all.
