1. I think my most successful art piece of this year is my sphere. I have never done this type of building with clay and I was nervous about how it would turn out in the end. When I started to mold the clay I thought it might turn out good and it did. I was surprised on how well i was able to score and slip the clay together to hold a sphere form. I believe that when I mold more clays into spheres I will be able to make the clay look better and better as a sphere over time. 2. I think a project that I over came most obstacles was the box, because it was the first time I made a four wall box out of clay. As I was rolling out the clay slabs I had to get the slabs all about the same length and size so that the box wouldn't be croaked. It took me some time to get it right but I was able to make enough slabs for the box. After I was finished with the box, I could tell I overcame obstacles with molding clay and designing how I want the clay to look like after it is fired and glazed. 3. One piece I believe has shown my growth as an artist is my box. I have never created a box before and it was giving me trouble with putting it together with the slabs being leather dry and I've never worked with that type of driness of clay before. But I was able to learn how to get the clay to slip and score and I think it turned out really good. My other piece I think I showed my growth was my slab, because I had to learn how to carve different layers of clay and make sure I didn't cut through the entire clay. I also had to guess at how to make each layer even and not make it look and be uneven. But in the end I learned how to carve different layers and make my clay slab look good. 4. Working with clay was fun, I've never really worked with it and it was a new experience. I guess I wasn't really frustrated with only working with clay because its the only type of material that I've used in beginning ceramics. I guess positives with only using clay is that I now know how to work the clay in its different forms of dryness and when to add stuff and when not too. I would like in the future to use more than just clay in art, it would be cool to learn how to create thing that are not just made from clay. |
